Madagascar is a country’s name and a National Disaster has ravaged it. Because of this cyclone, many people have died. The Indian Navy has therefore sent its ship called INS Airavat to assist this country, where this ship can supply food and health supplies.
Why is this operation called Vanilla Operation? Vanilla operation is named because the most grown in this country are vanilla beans. Madagascar produces large quantities of vanilla boars therefore Indian Navy names this operation “Operation Vanilla”.
The name of this cyclone is Cyclone Ava. approximately 30 people have been died and more than 90 thousand people are still missing. The number of death can also be increased as many people are still missing.
The President of Madagascar appealed to the International Community on the 25th of January that we’ve been hit by a cyclone and we are helpless, therefore please help us as much as you can.
India was the primary responder here because the Indian Navy is extremely active during this area and interestingly, the Indian Navy ship was within the area near Seychelles, So we sent an equivalent ship to Madagascar. And one among the foremost important things here is that Madagascar is India’s “Sagar Initiative” plan, which is “Security and Growth for all in the Region (Sagar)”.
The strategic alliance with Madagascar, the Reunion Island, Comoros and others, has been established by India and France to keep Indian Ocean region safe and secure.

The location of Madagascar is extremely strategic and it’s also near the Seychelles country, so India has got to build an honest friendship relation with Madagascar.
